About

The Farm

Our small, market farm grows a diversified range of organically-grown food in Bend, Oregon on 1.65 acres of cultivated land. Without tilling the ground and depending on a tractor to plant our vegetables we utilize methods that focus on reducing emissions, building healthy soil structures and providing nutritious and delicious organic foods. We use cover crops and tarping for weed control and soil building without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides and instead, using organic fertilizers, organic composts, and organic pest management. We are fortunate to lease this land from a previous farmer and soil scientist who had been growing vegetables organically for several years before we took over. The soil is very healthy and full of organic matter to make your produce more nutrient-rich. We raise 120 happy, egg-laying hens that are fed only organic food.

You can access our produce, eggs and flowers through a CSA Membership or visit us at the Bend Farmers Market on Wednesdays from May through mid-October on Brooks Alley in Downtown Bend.

The Farmers

Aaron and Lauren

Originally meeting in Brooklyn, NY - Aaron and Lauren decided to move to the West Coast to leave the big city of New York in hopes of finding a career in farming. In 2021, they founded Fibonacci Farm in Central Oregon on several acres of lease land and now reside in NE Bend, Oregon.

Aaron Stubbs: After graduating from law school with a focus on environmental law and civil rights, Aaron’s focus shifted towards environmentalism and community. Aaron made a leap of faith in 2019 to focus his interests in food, gardening, community and the environment and applied for a farming internship through Rogue Farm Corps. He worked at Quackenbush Farm in Eagle Creek, OR where he learned most of what he knows about running an organic market farm. Aaron fell in love with farming and found that it utilized many of the skills he had gained throughout his lifetime. This realization lead to a huge shift in consciousness and in turn, his happiness. Realizing there was no better time than the present to continue on this path, Aaron and his partner, Lauren founded Fibonacci Farm.

Lauren Rasmussen: A Florida native, Lauren moved to the Pacific Northwest after 9 years living in Brooklyn, NY. Her twenty years of experience in customer service, retail sales, marketing, and business management has been a positive contribution to the farm. Lauren strives to always perform, work hard and has the ability to find new ways to improve efficiencies and utilize her creativity to better the business. She is environmentally conscious, she focuses on animal rights, sustainability and bettering ourselves as well as the planet. Lauren is also a visual artist + musician and enjoys having fun at work. She loves farming and especially loves farming flowers.

Aaron and Lauren founded Fibonacci farm in hope to promote positive health and wellness to themselves and to their neighbors. They love what they do and look forward to bringing high quality produce, eggs and flowers to the community.

Our Practices

We farm the land by hand, and won’t rely on a tractor. We utilize tools such as a Broadfork to aerate the beds and a battery-operated Tilther to mix the compost and fertilizer with the top inch of soil. By not tilling and growing our vegetables in permanent raised beds, we hope to constantly build up soil health and increase organic matter while giving us the added benefit of reduced weed pressure. It also mitigates climate change by reducing the use of fossil fueled powered machinery and holds carbon into the ground, preventing the release of greenhouse gasses that happens during tillage.

While recognizing and honoring the native people who were stewards of the land before us, our biggest hope is to bring health and wellness to our new community in Central Oregon by growing excellent produce and flowers while preserving this sacred land and doing our best to not harm our soil and broader ecosystem.
